My typical stack starts with 18-22 layers and I have been doing 3 separate welding heats, second stack at 4-5 pieces (~72-100 layers), and 3rd stack (usually 4 pieces) to get to ~280-400 layers. My initial thoughts were that it really doesn't matter as far as the final pattern because of the number of layers.
